Driven to make an impact in the world, Jacob Tucci chose to attend Rutgers University-Camden through the EOF Program for its solid academic reputation and the personal connections he could make that would help him throughout his time here and after graduation. From the first day of Summer Institute, Jacob connected with his peers and got involved in a variety of campus activities, such as the Rutgers-Camden Residence Hall Association (RHA), a group dedicated to improving the resident students’ experiences, and the American Medical Students Association. Jacob is also part of the TRiO Student Support Services Program, which provides academic and other support services to program participants. Jacob aspires to a career as a corporate lawyer or pediatric surgeon.
Jacob began his education at Rutgers-Camden when he attended the EOF Summer Institute 2015. During the Summer Institute, Jacob attended classes and workshops on budgeting, time management, and other life lessons. Jacob fondly remembers exploring Philadelphia with the EOF first year students and eating cheesesteaks and frozen yogurt during free time.
Jacob has taken advantage of the many opportunities offered to EOF students, including attending the NODA Fall 2015 Conference in Denver, CO with a group of EOF students. Jacob advises other EOF students to “Take every opportunity you can; even if it doesn’t feel like you, just do it. It’s an opportunity to explore different options.” He said he takes each day at a time and balances schoolwork with other life demands. He commented that being consistent is essential to accomplishing goals.
